Child Therapy

Child counseling (3-10 years) provides a safe and supportive space for children to work through big feelings, behavior challenges, and developmental hurdles in ways that make sense for their age. Using play and other age-appropriate techniques, children can express themselves, build confidence, and practice healthy coping skills.

Parents are an important part of this process. Sometimes that means joining sessions, other times learning strategies to support your child at home. This collaboration helps reinforce progress, strengthens family relationships, and builds healthy communication patterns.

Big feelings deserve gentle care, for kids and the families who love them.

Contact

How it works:

  • Free initial 15 minute phone call – We’ll connect briefly to talk about your child’s needs and answer any questions. This helps us decide together if my services are a good fit for your family.

  • 1-hour parent/guardian intake – Our first full session focuses on understanding your child’s background, strengths, and challenges. This meeting can take place in person at my office or via telehealth.

  • Personalized treatment plan – Based on what we discuss, I’ll create a plan with clear goals and strategies tailored to your child and family. We’ll also decide on the best session frequency (weekly or bi-weekly).

  • Ongoing sessions – Depending on your family’s needs, sessions may involve your child, you as the parent, or both. Play-based sessions with children are held in the office, while parent coaching and progress check-ins can happen either in person or via telehealth.

What can I expect in child sessions, parent sessions, and joint sessions?

Every family’s needs are unique, which is why counseling may look a little different from one session to the next. Sometimes it’s most helpful to meet with your child directly, other times to focus on you as the parent, and often to bring you both together. Offering this flexibility allows us to strengthen your child’s growth, support your parenting, and nurture the parent–child relationship in the way that fits best for your family.

Child-only Sessions

In child-only sessions, children learn age-appropriate ways to manage big feelings, build coping skills, and develop confidence in handling challenges.

Parent-only Sessions

Parent-only sessions focus on supporting you as the caregiver. These sessions provide space to explore your child’s needs, learn strategies for connection, and gain tools to strengthen your parenting with confidence.

Joint Sessions with Child and Parent

Joint sessions bring parents and children together to work on connection, communication, and problem-solving in real time. With guided support, families practice new ways of relating that build trust and resilience at home.
